Twirl, Twirl, Twirl
I am in love with the idea of a blush color pleated chiffon skirt! When I went on Lookbook I fell head over heels for how this lovely lady styled hers...stripes and pleats please. Also how adorable is this photo pairing, sigh...

Some Blog Love
I realized this morning as I was sitting here reading my blog list before class that I have seriously neglected my own blog. SHAME! Unfortunately this week has been beyond hectic...hopefully with some fabulous stuff happening soon...
This picture is from a blog that's I just started following called inside am-lul's closet and I was so in love with this little collage I had to share. If all these outfits could be in my closet when I got home it would be greatly appreciated...thanks!
Now to go out to frigid winds, mid-terms, and the pharmacy for some emergen-c. STAY WARM!

Chanel-lo!
Style.com is an amazing source to look at any runway show you could possibly imagine. Here are a few images from Chanel...notice anything? That's right, dresses over pants! This is not the first time I have spotted this trend, Shopbop's Style Director even highlighted this look.

My Top Five Best Dressed at the SAGS
I love award season, it is essentially a fashion parade with little figurines given out. My favorite part would have to be the red carpet before hand, but really I could watch this on mute. Watching the beautiful creations walk the red carpet is my favorite, and critiquing everyone is fun too. So here they are my top five best dressed!

Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen

Hailee Steinfeld in Prada

Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton

Jennifer Lawerence in Oscar De La Renta

Rosario Dawson in J. Mendel
1. Mila Kunis is my favorite of these five lovely ladies. First off she's beautiful and this dress left me speechless when I first saw it. The fabric itself is phenomenal, the whole night I wanted her to do a great big twirl so I could see all the detail. The shape was romantic and sexy, it was flawless.
2. Hailee Steinfeld is going to be someone to watch at the Oscars. Her choices for her appearances for True Grit are fantastic. Not only is this dress on the nose for the 14 year old, but it fits perfectly. She looks young and not like she's trying to be 20. I think its hard for the young girls to dress for these events and she does a remarkable job!
3. All I have to say is I hope this look gets some love. This collection from Louis Vuitton is one of my favorites and I have been dieing for their to be more red carpet moments. Jennifer Lawerence also wore in at the Globes, and it was amazing.
4. Some may think I am crazy, but let me start by saying it's all about the dress. Her hair and makeup were a disconnect for me with the dress, but that color is so bright and rich! I didn't hate the bow, it is so Oscar. I give this girl props for going bold at her first award show.
5. Rosario Dawson's look to me was like a perfect Spring afternoon. The color was light, here jewelry was adorable and her hair was so on trend. She was a presenter and just dressed the part of beautiful girl at award show, she didn't try to show up the nominees. It was just one word: lovely.

Erin Featherston; the Princess of Whimsy
WWD reported today that the eternally adorable Erin Featherston will be debuting a new contemporary line for Fall at New York fashion week. The line, aptly named Erin, evokes an intimate feel. Debuting at a much lower price point then her coveted ethereal name-sake collection, this line is more about the everyday woman. Focusing on reaching more of her fan base who is unable to afford her designs was Erin's goal when creating this line. After doing a gorgeous Target line and a collaboration at Juicy Couture, Erin is bringing her feminine touches into the everyday. She's utterly adorable, she even shot the lookbook below herself, sigh.

Trend or Foe?
Recently my boyfriend and I were discussing the idea of having style. Developing your own personal style can be tricky, but ultimately should be about expressing yourself and doing what makes you happy. Helena Bonham Carter is an extreme example of personal style, she dresses how she dresses because she does, not to impress anyone. That is how it should be.
Our discussion was focused how trends can spiral so out of control and that people become swallowed by them. The example thrown around was this idea of "the urban Elmer Fudd," guys who have probably never step their feet off of concrete dressing like John Muir because its fashionable.
The greatest fashion advice I have received and could ever pass along is that people with true style dress for themselves, interpreting trends they like into their wardrobe because they like them, not because it is trending. Ultimately clothing should be an example of yourself, not who you are. Below is a picture from Sartorialist of a gentlemen with great personal style, I also included the idea of dressing for a trend.
Basically I am trying to say that it doesn't matter how much money you have, or how many fashion magazines you read, fashion is an extension of who you are. Embrace it, love it, and never apologize for being who you are!

The Warm, Warm West
Thank you for Refinery 29 for rubbing in the fact that I have been cold for two solid months and in California they are experiencing 70's and Sun. With my graduation date looming (March...AHHH), my job hunt is moving further and further West.
Here's some lovely previews of what some LA lovelies will be sporting for Spring!
I am in love with 3, 4 and Six. The simple over-sized top is a page out of my go to casual wardrobe. As you all know I love a good maxi skirt, and now adorable is that fishtail braid!

Oh just show up already!
After the New Years two things happen in the fashion world, everything you were drooling over for the holidays goes on sale and everyone offers sneak peeks for Spring. There is both positive and negative effects of this trend, and lets start with the positive. (A new years resolution is to see things as good, rather than bad)
Positive: By knowing what will be big in Spring, you are prepared to look through super reduced merchandise and get some deals on Spring must-haves.
Negative: You are still stuck under a sweater and parka while sitting on your fashion gold mine.
Here are some images that have me already building the perfect Spring collection...

*I love the popularity of DIY projects lately, and super thrilled that Wool and the Gang seems to be popping up everywhere. Once I dig my knitting needles out of the closet I will have to take the rust off my knitting skills and attempt a pattern since there is no signs of a warm up in the near future!

M.I.A
So for the two people who probably read this, well I have been M.I.A lately. Not only did I move into a new apartment with the man of my dreams, but also a new internship. Sadly the apartment came without internet connection and finals are looming...so soon I will be updating more frequently.
Another activity I have been up to is the reading of three fashion magazines.
1. Nylon: August 2010
-dedicated to denim, I suggest this issue to anyone looking for great music coverage, information on the newest brands and some great blogs to follow...well aside from me
2. W Magazine: September 2010
-while the cover focuses on the new "it" girls, something I always wondered how they calculated, but it also focuses on the who, what, when, where of fashion. New travel hot spots, up and coming designers, and my favorite, trends.
3. Elle Magazine: September 2010
-by far my favorite of all the magazines I picked up for my weekend flight to Ohio. Cover Girl Julia Roberts takes part in a three part spread based on her hit movie, about the hit book, Eat Pray Love. Also photo spreads that feature movie themes, like Kim Kardashian and Justin Beiber in The Graduate, are totally worth flipping through. I think I have become an Elle convert, sorry Vogue.
