his & hers | around the house

Now that Dan and I are married, we decided to move out of our tiny (yet extremely affordable) apartment and move into our first "adult"place. My dream of our first place was filled with warm nights snuggling on the couch, cooking family dinners and feeling like I am home. Living in Nashville really allowed me to make my place completely my own, since moving back I have been working on meshing Dan and my's style without looking like we lived in the circus!

His Style: mid-century modern with playful pops of color...and toys

Her Style: southwest cozy with pieces of the nature

So how does that come together? Well I will let you know once I have it entirely figured out but in the mean time here are some little nooks and cranies I have perfected (in my opinion) around the apartment. We still have a lot of work to do, but these are starting to make this place home.

nest | o'christmas tree

The snow has fallen, it's December and Christmas-time is finally here! The first thing I always put up is my tree, truthfully I have barely digested Thanksgiving dinner before I have started planning where I will put it in my apartment. The smells of cinnamon and evergreen fills my home, with thoughts of cuddling up on the sofa with coco and a cozy blanket!

For those of us with...uh...limited space I know how challenging it can be to get over the idea of bringing in more to our homes. Here are some lovely small space solutions to bring in the Holiday cheer and not cramp your style! I love the alternative trees, decorating with memories and mementos warms my heart. What's your favorite things to decorate with?

I am a Pinterest junky...literally I can't rip myself away! Since I am in a new apartment, finally, I am continually on the hunt for great inspiration to make my home feel cozy.

My favorite part of decorating has to be creating little "moments" around my home. I love putting together personal little touches around that are like little vignettes of my life. When I look at these little areas they make me smile while a take a little walk down memory lane.

Okay, so I know I am not the only person who can get lost for hours on Pinterest, but lately it has become a mild obsession for me! With this new apartment, and what feels like zero time to decorate, I am always looking for inspiration to make this place feel like home.

I like to work room by room, this keeps my sane since I have a tendency to get distracted easily...hey it happens!! Right now my focus is 100% on the Living Room. This room is the warm hello you get after a long, long day of daily grind. It's the place that you cuddle up with your love, snuggle into when you are sick, and host your nearest and dearest.

I could see myself curled up into any one of these five rooms...

Garden Gnome

If you have been following me on Instagram you may have noticed I have gained a small obsession with indoor gardens...

It all happened so fast, I got a Begonia Bush and it some how survived the trip from Philadelphia to Nashville. This had never happened, I thought 'it must be a fluke,' but one-by-one they kept living! So now I have a new hobby and therefore a new thing to waste hours on the internet searching inspirational photos of...ENJOY!

I am in the process the process of moving and am obsessed with the idea of making this my ideal home. More on the move to come...but here is some inspiration for my man and mine's new space!!

1. Neutral furniture with pops of pattern and color

2. I am always struggling with how to display/store my jewelry. I am currently using brass twigs, but am in love with using various empty frames in an interior.

3. Bringing the outside in with clay pots. Unfortunately the current heat wave, combined with no central air, I have had trouble keeping plants alive. I am hoping that in a more controlled environment I will do okay.

4. Greenery is supposed to be good for the flow of energy in a space (I am aware how that sounds) and I really believe it works. Wanting to bring in hanging terrariums with the help of my expert urban gardener ;)

5. Finally I have the ability to have the outdoor space I always wanted...and a hammock.

6. Using polaroids for wall collages is a fun way to fill a space.
