Fashion tribute to Shark Week

While watching Jaws the other night with my boyfriend we were really surprised by the work wear, Americana fashions in the the movie that are popping up in many Fall collections. 

Take Richard Dreyfuss's character. He's like the young rebel oceanographer....or today's modern hipster with the beard included....

Even these three look like they modeling Levi's or J Crews workwear gear, all while battling a blood hungry great white shark. Fashionable even under pressure.

Breathless...Re-Release

With Breathless being re-released for the 50th anniversary Friday (in Philadelphia at the Ritz Bourse) I thought I would share some photos and the French trailer. I fell in love with this film the first time I saw it, lovely film noir.

Men Who Stare at Goats

On Monday I ventured out to see The Men Who Stare at Goats, with a line-up like this one and seemingly hilarious plot line I was in, on board, and very excited for two hours of Ewan McGregor and George Clooney.

The movie was good, not great by any means. They gave Ewan some great one liners but I won big complaint....DON'T CAST SOMEONE FROM STAR WARS IN A MOVIE WHERE YOU TALK ABOUT JEDI WARRIORS THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE THING!!!!!!! It was funny the first time...even though it was me and a stranger across the aisle laughing hysterically at the first take, but then it just got to be over kill. WE GET IT!!

George Clooney was the saving grace, it was funny Timothy Leery inspired war (if you can call it that) movie. But not the knock out I was expecting...see it for sure though, but maybe rent not the theater.

However speaking of Clooney (a man whose voice makes me melt....ahhh) his new film, Up In The Air, promises to be the best of his career. Check the trailer below!

The September Issue!

It's September so that means the September issues are here! With the release of the movie of The September Issue (check out the official website of the movie www.theseptemberissue.com it looks like a virtual issue) I thought I would check out what Vogue and my other fav mags had to offer.

For those you not familiar with the idea of the September Issue of Vogue it's essentially the fashion bible with the prediction of the trends, looks, and essentials for the coming year. 2007's was an impressive 4lbs!! Now I have been reading Vogue since I was 10 (crazy I know but I LOVE the magazine) so for about 15 years I have seen many September issues.

This year the looks was rich crimsons, subtle animals prints, structure and boots, booties and did I say boots?

I do keep my eye on many other media outlets, from blogs, other magazines, stores and my beautifully fashion forward friends. Nylon focused fashion flashbacks from some of televisions finest like Happy Day's Fonzie, my friends are loving gold chains as their bold accents and British vogue was talking about stream-lined slim necklaces.

I know it's recession time (hence why I just sat and the store reading only to make the Vogue purchase) but I suggest checking out these September Issues. If you are feeling like spending a few extra bucks check out British publications of your favorite magazines. The trends they report may be a little ahead of the states but there are always classic looks with an edgy splash.

Inglourious Basterds

Sunday EK and I (the bestie) ventured out to see Inglourious Basterds, a movie that a few weeks ago I picked as one of the top three movies I wanted to see this summer. Now I must say with my strong interest in fasion, and EK being a fashion designer, the costume choices really stood out to us. Beautiful dresses with a modern edge, I do love 40's glamour, but Soshanna's every day wardrobe left me envious. Great menswear inspired Persian everyday fashion with a hit of fabulousness (real word or not I am using it). I think I just became inspired for fall. Who would have thought Quentin Tarintino would inspire fashion...

I thought I would provide you with some IMDB screen photos of my top three (OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS NUMBER) favorite looks. Agree or disagree, fashion is all about your personal style and opinion. Diane Kruger's look was flawless, I mean she was a movie star. Enjoy!

MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES!!

There are three movies that I am VERY excited to see...hopefully I do! So I thought I would share the three movies I will fork out $10-15 to see (I am a popcorn and candy gal). I have provided the trailers so that you can agree with me, think I am crazy, or even join me for a trip to the theater.

1. 500 Days of Summer, out now.

Starring Zooey Deschanel and Joesph Gordon-Levitt.

Basic synopsis of he meets her, he falls for her, but she isn't interested...TADA! Granted I haven't seen it so I am going off of trailers, IMDB synopsis and word of mouth. Adore Zooey and from what I heard of the soundtrack, I will love this movie!! Yes I like romantic/tragic movies...whatever.










2. Funny People, out now.

3. Inglourious Bastards, maybe out now, but really can't remember!

Starring Brad Pitt (and the other name you may recognize is Diane Kruger)

So WWII war movie of the "Bastards" which was a band of secret service sent out to kill Nazis. Of course this has Taratino's touch so it will be cheeky, funny, cheesy and gory. It seems it may be re-make of an Italian film from the 70's. After watching Jimmy Kimmel interview Taratino about the new movie it sounds like it's promising little known German actors, well known American ones, and some pretty memorable dialogue.
