around | city parks

It was a rare occurrence, a sunny day off and a happy baby! We packed up a blanket, every board book within a two-mile radius and headed to the closest park. Harper and I enjoyed a day watching dogs walk by, listen to the bird chirp and even take a ride on the baby swing, someone is finally coming around to the swing...

It was one of those rare days that motherhood feels like a breeze and the magic that is promised with it. We ended our perfect day in the sun by watching a beautiful bride prepare to walk down the aisle. Also please don't judge my child on reading her book upside down...somethings are just too hard :)

travel | portland maine

Last weekend Dan and I packed up the car, and settled the Nugget in for a six-hour scenic drive to Portland, Maine with a lunch stop in New Haven, Connecticut. We have been talking about taking this trip for a year-or-so and I was thrilled for a long weekend with my adorable little family.

First stop on our trip, to break up the long drive for a restless 10 month-old, we hit up Claire's in New Haven for some spectacular vegetarian fare. I was getting over a little stomach bug, but still my tempeh bacon was not to be messed with.

Once we hit Portland the agenda was relaxing and eating, with a little more relaxing in between! Some of the highlights of our trip with the gorgeous East End with the Eastern Promenade, the most gorgeous views of the bay I have seen. We enjoyed some local noms, like Tandem Coffee, Hot Suppa and the Front Room.

We rounded out of little excursion up the coast with a stop off in Westborough, Massachusetts to visits our friends and their adorable pup Stella Bean. This was nuggets first rendezvous with a little pup. It started off with lots of worried looks and scared toes, but by the end of the trip with had a "nice touch" down and I think I even saw a small hug!

All-in-all a successful little weekend, and a much needed breathe of fresh air from the hustle of Philadelphia.

Obviously the highlight of my trip involved the pup and baby...

A few weeks ago we loaded up our little family and took a little drive up to Cape May, New Jersey. This town holds a special place in our hearts, and we couldn't wait to bundle up the nugget
and show her the ocean.

I found my coziest sweater to layer under my new vintage denim jacket (my latest obsession), topped it off with my Barbour wool hat and wrapped my little darling in her favorite Pendelton. We of course can not get enough of her dressed up as a little bear, seriously it's one of three!

around | cooperstown, ny

It's been one year since D and I got married on a beautiful beach in Florida.
Since during this first year we became first-time parents, we decided to spend our anniversary on a family friendly trip! After some quick discussions between feedings we landed on Cooperstown in New York. D has been obsessed with baseball and with a growing collection of Ebbet's Field hats we thought the Baseball Hall of Fame was the perfect choice.

First off, this beautiful little town sits on the edge of the Catskills mountains next to Lake Ostego, where we dined alfresco at a beautiful resort! Second of all the town has wonderful main drag with cut little shops and restaurants! We had a wonderful time, and were mesmerized by the changing leaves.

The first photo is of our wonderful little hotel we stayed at The Cooper Inn. It was a heaven of mixed patterns and New England charm. I recommend this for anyone looking for a quick,
 little weekend getaway!

his & hers | around the house

Now that Dan and I are married, we decided to move out of our tiny (yet extremely affordable) apartment and move into our first "adult"place. My dream of our first place was filled with warm nights snuggling on the couch, cooking family dinners and feeling like I am home. Living in Nashville really allowed me to make my place completely my own, since moving back I have been working on meshing Dan and my's style without looking like we lived in the circus!

His Style: mid-century modern with playful pops of color...and toys

Her Style: southwest cozy with pieces of the nature

So how does that come together? Well I will let you know once I have it entirely figured out but in the mean time here are some little nooks and cranies I have perfected (in my opinion) around the apartment. We still have a lot of work to do, but these are starting to make this place home.

The snow has fallen, it's December and Christmas-time is finally here! The first thing I always put up is my tree, truthfully I have barely digested Thanksgiving dinner before I have started planning where I will put it in my apartment. The smells of cinnamon and evergreen fills my home, with thoughts of cuddling up on the sofa with coco and a cozy blanket!

For those of us with...uh...limited space I know how challenging it can be to get over the idea of bringing in more to our homes. Here are some lovely small space solutions to bring in the Holiday cheer and not cramp your style! I love the alternative trees, decorating with memories and mementos warms my heart. What's your favorite things to decorate with?
